Rorschach

There is something about Rorschach that is very sketchy to me. He wears this mask and acts as if everyone is bad, but he himself does not give off the friendliest vibe. He seems to be incredibly curious as to how the Comedian died, but I'm not convinced it wasn't him that killed him and this is all just cover up to get people thinking it couldn't be him. Also the women at the end of the chapter says while talking about the death of Captain Carnage on page 34, "Uh, well, he pulled it on Rorschach and Rorschach dropped him down an elevator shaft." Is it possible the author wants us to think Rorschach is sketchy or is there something more to this guy?

  1. I actually didn't think of that, and that is an interesting perspective. I agree Rorschach is a sketchy character, and the women's comment was very intentional for the scene. Rorschach also is very feared of by many, including multiple scenes of encountering with people who start sweating up, and getting nervous around him. He seems like a sketchy hero for sure, and may not even be the good guy he use to be.

  2. I agree in the fact that Rorschach is pretty rough around the edges, but I feel like most all of his actions have good intentions. In the end he is trying to solve the murder of his friend. While his methods of doing so may not be the most ethical or typical of a hero type, his intentions are good in the end.

  3. Rorschach seems to be a perfect example of an anti hero. He wants to do good and has good intentions, but the means by which he goes about achieving his goals are often questionable, bordering on downright bad. I think he is a complex and interesting character, and I'm excited to read more about him.

  4. It would seem very uncharacteristic of Rorschach to kill the Comedian. Rorschach believes that the everyday citizens are evil and corrupted, but he believed that masked vigilantes were helping people. The only time he has spoken badly of a hero is when he called Adrian Veidt a prostitute for selling out or Hollis Mason for his criticism of vigilantes in his book. While Rorschach is extremely cruel and violent, he only kills people if he believes that it serves a greater purpose, a purpose I believe he would not find in killing the Comedian
